It bent inwards in about a three foot section near the bottom of the tailgate. Be careful how much weight you guys put on these weaklings... WebFeb 9, 2007 · Drill a hole in the front of the bed. Instal an eye bolt. Remove Tailgate. Place a 4x4 across the rear. Use a comealong to pull on the eyebolt until the bed front is straight remove eyebolt drop the 4x4 and reinstal the tailgate. Basic problem is that if the tailgate swings hard all the way open against the stops the stops in the hinges can bend slightly, which will then allow the tailgate to open a bit further and therefore making the stop rod liable to pull out. Overall it's a bad design from the factory. WebJan 10, 2012 · Didn't have any panic stops or anything, but after draining the tank I notice that the bed has now rubbed through the Cab clear coat and the leading bed edge needs to get pulled back. Cab paint needs saving!!! At the center of the deflection, only maybe 6mm - 1/8" clearance and not much room between the cab and bed to affix a "puller".
WebSep 25, 2008 · During this process I got a little impatient while welding and created a bow in my tailgate. The top of the tailgate bows outward and the bottom rail bows inward. I straightened the bottom easy enough with a prybar. The top, well, I man handled it a bit and have it close to straight (maybe 1/4" off across the width). WebNov 13, 2016 · I would maybe try laying the tailgate down on two 4x4's placed at the short sides. The wrap two long 4x4's in a blanket or something protective and place them at the top and bottom of the tailgate where the interior and exterior panels come together and either together or separately jump on it.
